How We Determine the Right Hearing Solution

Choosing the right hearing aid is not just about your hearing test results. It starts with understanding your hearing and what will actually help you in your day-to-day life.

At Mile High ENT, we guide you through every step of this process. Our audiologist uses your hearing evaluation results and personal preferences to recommend the most appropriate option.

We take several factors into account.

Our goal is to simplify the process and help you choose a hearing solution that works for you in your everyday life.

At Mile High ENT, we prioritize timely access to care, with same-week appointments often available at our Denver clinic. To schedule a visit, call 303-487-0834 or complete our online form.

Different Hearing Aid Options

Modern hearing aids are available in several styles, each designed to be adaptable to different listening environments. The right option depends on your preferences and how you plan to use the device.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

BTE devices sit behind the ear and connect to an earmold or dome inside the ear canal. These are one of the most versatile options and can accommodate a wide range of hearing loss, from mild to profound. While they are slightly more visible than smaller styles, modern designs are sleek and discreet.

Receiver-in-Canal (RIC)

Receiver-in-canal hearing aids are similar to BTE models but use a thin wire to place the speaker directly inside the ear canal. This design allows for a more natural sound experience and a less noticeable appearance.

In-the-Ear (ITE)

In-the-ear hearing aids are custom-made to fit the outer portion of the ear. Their larger size compared to in-canal options makes them easier to handle and allows for additional features like manual controls and longer battery life.

We help you understand the differences between these options and guide you toward a solution that aligns with your hearing needs and personal preferences.

Hearing Aid Fitting & Programming

A proper fit and accurate programming are essential for hearing aids to work the way they should in your daily life. Our audiologist, Dr. Raffle, works closely with you to ensure your hearing aids are set up for both comfort and clarity.

Once a hearing aid is selected, we:

Fit the device for comfort and proper placement

Program it based on your hearing test results

Adjust settings to support real-world listening situations

Dr. Raffle takes the time to walk you through how your hearing aids work and what you can expect as you begin using them. You’ll receive clear, straightforward guidance on:

Daily use and care

Cleaning and maintenance

Replacing filters, domes, or charging components

We also provide one-on-one support for any questions or concerns as you adjust to your hearing aids.

Repairs & Maintenance for Hearing Aids

Hearing aids require regular maintenance to continue working properly. Over time, issues such as reduced sound quality, intermittent performance, or physical wear can affect how well your devices function.
